Privacy Policy

This Policy applies to personal information processed in connection with the Service. Chatskee is intended for users who are 13 years of age or older. If you are under 13, do not create an account or use the Service.

Depending on how you use Chatskee, we may collect:

• Account and profile information. When you sign in with an identity provider (such as Google, GitHub, X, or LinkedIn), we receive information the provider shares with us — typically a stable account identifier, display name, email address, and profile photo. We do not receive your provider password. You may also set a custom avatar and preferences (for example theme, feed layout, timeline, and notification settings).
• User content. Posts, replies, reactions, photos, GIFs, link previews, mentions, channel names and settings, alerts, saved posts, and similar content you choose to create or upload.
• Location information (optional). If you choose to attach location to a post (via browser permission or a last-known cached location), we store coordinates associated with that post so channel members can see it on the map. Location sharing is optional and under your control per post.
• Channel and activity data. Channel membership, roles (such as admin), invite links, read/resume markers, and similar operational data needed to run channels and the feed.
• Technical and usage data. IP address (for example when creating a post), approximate device/browser information, timestamps, and server logs needed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service.
• Communications. Messages you send us (for example deletion or privacy requests to privacy@designsbychace.com).

We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers, marketing pixels, or analytics products that profile you for ads.

We use information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service (accounts, channels, feeds, maps, weather, notifications, and related features);
• Authenticate you and personalize your experience based on your settings;
• Display content and location you choose to share with other channel members;
• Protect security, prevent abuse, and enforce our Terms;
• Respond to your requests (including account or content deletion);
• Comply with law and defend legal claims when required.

Legal bases (where applicable, such as under GDPR) include: performing our contract with you (providing the Service), legitimate interests (security, product improvement, communication about the Service), consent where required (for example optional location), and legal obligation.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. We do not use your information to send you third-party promotional offers.

If that ever changes, we will update this Policy and, where required by law, obtain any additional consent before doing so.

We may share information with service providers who help us operate Chatskee, only as needed for those services, including:

• Identity providers you choose (Google, GitHub, X, LinkedIn) for sign-in;
• MongoDB Atlas for application data storage;
• Google Cloud (Cloud Run hosting, and Google Cloud Storage for new image uploads);
• Amazon Web Services (S3) for legacy uploaded images still served from prior storage;
• Google Maps for map display;
• OpenWeatherMap for weather and sunrise/sunset data tied to location;
• Giphy when you search or attach GIFs.

These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Designs by Chace, our users, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer (in which case we would seek appropriate protections).

Content you post in a channel is visible to other members of that channel (and, for public channels, to people who can access them). That is sharing you initiate by using the Service — not a “sale” by us.

You (and other users) are solely responsible for content posted to Chatskee. We provide the platform; we do not create or control what users write or upload in their channels. Private channels are membership-gated: invites are controlled by channel admins; we do not sell or publicly index private channel content. Members of a private channel can see what other members post there.

We use cookies and similar technologies as needed for authentication/sessions and to operate the Service. The Service also stores preferences and convenience data in your browser (for example theme, sun times, last channel, and read markers) so the app works smoothly across visits. You can clear local storage and cookies in your browser; doing so may sign you out or reset preferences.

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and for legitimate business, security, and legal purposes. Soft-deleted content may remain in our systems for a period before permanent removal as part of normal operations.

You may request deletion of your account and associated content by emailing privacy@designsbychace.com. We will process reasonable requests within a practical timeframe. Some information may remain in backups or logs for a limited time, or where we must retain it for legal, security, or dispute-resolution reasons. (A self-serve administration portal for deletion is planned; until then, email is the request path.)

Depending on where you live (including the EEA/UK and certain U.S. states), you may have rights to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Correct inaccurate information;
• Request deletion of your information;
• Export or receive a copy of information you provided (portability);
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

To exercise these rights, contact privacy@designsbychace.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We will not discriminate against you for exercising privacy rights available under applicable law.

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Chatskee is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective date” at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. Material changes will be posted on this page.
